Fashion Show Collaboration: Nature x Fashion

A few months ago, our school celebrated an annual program, Lakan at Lakambini Ng Kalikasan (Prince and Princesses of Nature) that collaborates on both mother nature and fashion, but mainly it focuses on the re-usage of a material in accordance with protecting Mother Nature and of course, the creativity, skills, imagination of a contestant. And don't forget the Catwalk attitude! I really think that it is a cool way to promote Nature. This is another Filipino's indigenous way in expressing and promoting one's skill, passion and artistic ways. And P.S. all of the participants were just High School Students and most of the materials used in their costumes/outfits were, plastics, newspapers, broken glass, flour sacks, etc.

Guardian of the Forest.
An adorable cocktail dress inspired by the
Orange-Winged butterfly that is mostly seen in Baguio City, Philippines

Nature's Brave Fighter.
Flour Sack inspired bottom paired up with a top coat made out of dried corn skin.

Mother Nature And Her Escort.
Left Contestant: A leaf inspired dress made out of cardboard papers, that signifies mother nature.
Right Contestant: Green Bahag (Mostly worn by highlanders in the Philippines) inspired, colorfully studded with the city's famous orchid, the sunflower.

An up close look of the dress.

Another up close view of the long-trained dress.

 Mother Nature's Preserver.
An indigenous outfit with a modern twist. The long-trained dress was made out of merely, beans, shells and some curled dry corn skin and finished the look with some rockin' heels!

The Garden Pixie
The contestant's own twist of modernity in the midst of formal evening dress.

The Forest's Pixie Warrior
A bright yellow-orange outfit, inspired by the one of the Festivals celebrated in Visayas.

Mother Nature's Knight.
One of my favorite outfit, this was inspired by the Philippine's very own Lapu-Lapu, but with its own twist. The outfit was mirror-studded which made it
more modernize and semi-wearable, which I think was the best!

 A Winter's Comfort.
A Closed Semi-Robe Dress inspired outfit, made out of clear Japanese paper and some flour sack.

The Leaf and the Tree.
An earth inspired mermaid dress, made simply out of Walis Tambo (Soft Broom) and other decorative materials.

A Queen's Beauty and Modesty.
A Filipiniana inspired dress collaborated with a modern twist, merely made out of some old cd's,
a banig (made of dried tikog leaves) and other decorative materials.

Empress of colors.
An red-orange inspired evening cocktail dress, made out of newspapers and other decorative materials.

Patron of the Sea.
A high-cut skirt layered with a long train. The dress was inspired by the the wonders of the sea and Mother Nature. Some of the materials were, harden papers, plastic bottles and other decorative materials.
